Why Techworkgrid exists

Working relationships rarely fit neat labels. A consultant can have autonomy in one project and be closely integrated in another. A company can intend to commission an independent result while its everyday instructions gradually resemble line management. Techworkgrid was established in Munich to make those facts visible before they become a dispute.

Our work centres on the criteria used in German social-security and employment-status analysis: personal dependence, instruction rights, integration into the client’s organisation, genuine entrepreneurial opportunity and risk, personal performance, working time, equipment, client concentration and market presence.

Who conducts the review

Anna Keller, lead status consultant, has spent twelve years supporting German and international organisations with contractor onboarding, evidence gathering and preparation for specialist counsel. Her role is analytical and educational. She does not present herself as a Rechtsanwältin or Steuerberaterin and does not provide court representation or tax returns.

For questions requiring reserved legal or tax advice, clients are encouraged to instruct an appropriately admitted German lawyer or tax adviser. Techworkgrid remains independent and receives no referral commission.

Our working principles

Facts before labels

We do not assume that “freelancer,” “consultant,” a Gewerbeanmeldung or regular invoicing settles the issue. We compare documents with examples from daily work.

Occupational context matters

Using client equipment may have one significance for a craftsperson and another for someone handling protected information. No indicator is scored in isolation.

Uncertainty belongs in the answer

Where evidence points in different directions, the report says so. We distinguish a missing fact from a favourable fact and a practical improvement from a cosmetic contractual change.

Proportionate next steps

Not every question needs a lengthy report. Not every high-risk case should stop at an informal consultation. We explain when a formal status determination under section 7a SGB IV or regulated advice deserves consideration.

Based in Munich, available across Germany

Consultations are delivered in English by secure video call, with in-person meetings available by agreement at our Munich office. Documents can be reviewed in English or German. Our focus remains German classification; cross-border tax, immigration and foreign-law issues require separate advisers.
